Previously worked up for Fastening Kit for Savannah
Top Rail with Wood Insert
Fastening Kit includes:
6 - 1-1/4" galvanized deck screws
4 - 2-1/2" galvanized deck screws
2 - Aluminum Savannah Rail Fasteners
Installation
1. Trim Wood Inserts 1/4'' shorter than Rail to allow space for 1/8'' thick Fastener on each end of Rail.
2. Locate 2 punched tabs immediately below 3 drilled holes in Aluminum Fastener. Position Fastener perpendicular to end of Wood Insert with protruding portion of tabs inside the bottom channel of Insert and immediately under the Insert. When properly positioned, the 3 drilled holes will be ready to accept screws into end of Insert and the end of the Insert will be resting on the punched tabs of the Fastener.
3. Starting with the center screw, install three 1-1/4'' screws into end of wood insert. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 on other end of Savannah Rail.
4. Install Fasteners on Bottom Rail.
5. Place assembled Rail Section into final position. You can use temporary block cut from scrap to hold Section at proper height. Make a mark at the top of each of the two notches in both Savannah Fasteners.
6. Set assembled Rail Section aside. Install two 2-1/2'' screws on marks at each end. Leave screw heads just under 1/8'' from surface.
7. Place assembled Rail Section into final position, forcing the top Fasteners down over protruding screws until snug.
8. Screw bottom Fasteners into place, being sure Balusters are plumb.
