Plinth (Base) Blocks for Casing

# 55-

Moulding Photo 6
Proper Usage
Base Blocks, also known as Plinth Blocks, typically receive the bottoms of door Casings and the ends of Baseboard, as shown at left. This creates a pleasing pilaster effect.

Proper Grain Orientation
The grain of the wood in our Base Blocks runs with the length of the Block; never across it. This is important. First, it just looks better. Old carpenter's say trees grow up - not sideways!

Stability Through the Years
Second, our Blocks don't warp. Cheaply made Blocks are often made by running a long board through a moulder and then cross-cutting Blocks from that board. That's much faster, but results in grain running across the Block rather than with it's length and can result in warping. Our custom machines cut the moulded pattern into pre-cut Blocks, ensuring the grain runs properly with their length.

IMPORTANT
Our Casing, Baseboard and Base Block designs match if they have the same 70-series Design Number. You can mix or match designs as you choose! Baseboard height should not extend above the flat bottom area of the Base Block. Use our Size Matching Chart to assure this.     Material Choices     CA Resident WARNING

Repeat your Corner Block Design
We can add the designs from our Corner Blocks in the flat bottom area of our Base Blocks. The photo above shows Corner Block Design 6 added to Base Block 76. Please use the pop-down below if you would like Corner Block designs added to your Plinth Blocks.
