Content Links

Also see Content Links at Misc Pages @ WM.

OVERVIEW
1. Content Links (CLs) are created as new pages with Type = Link and with URL starting with "link-".
A. By placing CL IDs in the Contents field of multiple pages, it appears as a page "living" on
several pages, without creating true duplicate pages to accomplish this.
B. Currently the Store has no true duplicate pages and we want to keep it this way!
C. True duplicate pages would require more maintenance each time there was a change in:
(1) Name
(2) URL
(3) Abstract
(4) Deletion/removal
(5) Other changes

2. Storage pages for all CLs used at the store have been created at Home > Webmaster's Storage Area > References > Content Links > subpages:
A. CL – Photos
B. CL – Info
C. CL – Product
D. CL – Literature
E. CL - Bargain Room
F. CL - Shop For
G. CL - Poly Products (SP)
H. CL - Intro Pgs

3. Due to the manner in which the store works, the CL will appear to live at the last page where it was added to the Contents field.

A. For this reason, the WM page must always be the last one to have the CL added to it's
Contents field.
B. When a CL needs to be changed, the WM page will be edited.
1) When the "Update" button is clicked, you will return to the WM page.
2) The change will affect all other instances where the CL is used

4. CLs will be built and maintained in FBG.

CREATING CONTENT LINKS
1. Before creating a new CL, verify one is not already stored at WM.
A. If so, use the existing CL. See step #7 just below.
B. If there is no existing CL, proceed to step #2.

2. In Advanced Edit Mode click "Contents."
A. Click "New" and fill out the "ID" field.

B. “Edit”, paste ID from paste buffer in “Contents” field of page & “Update.”

5. If the new CL will only be used on this one page, then navigate to the WM page where the other CLs are stored and paste the ID into the appropriate page’s “Contents” field.

6. If the CL is to be used on other pages, place the ID in the “Contents” field of these pages first before pasting to the WM page. WM page must always be the last one pasted into Contents so when changes are made you will be taken to the WM page.

7. Using Exiting CL

A. To remove from a given page

(2)Remove URL for unwanted CL and "Update."

2. Like all other store pages, removal of CLs should be done under Supervision.

3. On occasion, Q may be working with CL and will be copying from one page to another.
A. Q will notify Fbg when project is complete.
