Porch Photo 13

Before - Porch Photo 13
BEFORE
This little home doesn't know it's about to get a total facelift!

After - Porch Photo 13
AFTER
Wow! Not only does the porch now extend all the way to the left, but the roofline has been reworked to incorporate a gable with fancy cut shingles and octagon window. Tower/gazebo at right side of porch gets its own octagon window and cut shingles, of course!

CLOSE-UP
The porch itself gets the full decorative treatment. Turned Posts are adorned with Spandrels and Fan Brackets at the top and Turned Balusters at the bottom. Note the use of Sloped-top Bottom Rail to provide a visual foundation for the balustrade sections. Of course, it is also the professional way to ensure maximum water drainage away from Baluster bottoms.

The owners wrote: "We are delighted with our new front porch, and we want to thank the crew at Vintage Woodworks for their help. You supplied exactly what we ordered and delivered on time in every case. The excellent craftsmanship in each component part of your products is most impressive. Every item was packed carefully and arrived without damage. Vintage Woodworks is a rare and special resource. We couldn't have done the project without you!

"The core of our house was built in the late 1880's. In 1920, the owner added on and 'modernized' the roofline to look like the bungalows that were popular then. We tried to use Victorian Queen Anne design elements to make the house look more like the other nineteenth centuy homes in our neighborhood. I think our porch succeeds in showing some of the options for using historic themes in new construction.

"Once again, we really appreciate Vintage Woodworks' help with this project. It was a pleasure working with you. We are recommending you to our neighbors in this National Register Historic District."
