Door Care Prior to Installation

(This information is sent with each Door order.)

Proper care prior to installation is important to avoid bowing or warping the door frame. Improper storage for even a day can cause problems!

Store laying on a long edge
Door should be stored out of its shipping carton and laying on one of its long edges. Storing on end can result in bowing along the length of the door. Edge storage is typically accomplished by leaning one edge of the door against a wall. However, to avoid bowing across the width of the door, it should be stored with minimal lean. Storing door completely flat against a wall or other sturdy surface (so that it is perfectly vertical) is even better. Be sure to support it so that the door cannot fall over.

Store with equal support
Ensure its stored with equal support along the edge that is leaning against the wall. That is, avoid having only one end touching the wall. Otherwise, warping of the frame can result.

Store away from sources of moisture, heat, or direct sunlight
Please see Care & Feeding of Millwork for additional storage information.

Seal with finish as soon as possible
Door should be protected by finishing all surfaces as soon as possible, preferably within 72 hours of receipt. If the final protective finish coat is not applied within 30 days of receipt, or if door is improperly stored, we cannot replace your door due to bowing, warping, etc. See Care & Feeding of Millwork for additional finishing information.

Our Guarantee
We gladly guarantee each Vintage Woodworks Screen/Storm Door against joint failure for twenty (20) years of normal residential use if an adequate protective finish is maintained.

However, if kept well painted, your door should actually last at least a lifetime... a lifetime of beauty and usefulness... a lifetime of openings and closings, even by little children!

Returns
Standard size doors may be returned within 21 days for a full refund of the merchandise amount if they have not been finished or altered in anyway. Custom sizes are also returnable for a 50% Return Fee if ordered in one of our standard woods and not over 1-3/8” thick, 40" wide, or 85" tall. Custom designs, non-standard woods, and oversized doors are not returnable unless made incorrectly. Your door should be protected by finishing all surfaces as soon as possible, preferably within 72 hours of receipt. If the final protective finish coat is not applied within 21 days of receipt, or if door is improperly stored, we cannot replace due to bowing, warping, etc. (see Instructions sent with each door).

Proper storage and finishing will protect your investment and help ensure a lifetime of use.
