You can order most of our Brackets in optional thicknesses and/or material types. See Product Options.
Free upgrade: All 1-1/2" thick Brackets are available in Premium Western Red CEDAR for the same price as Poplar and Pine! Read more about Cedar...
Least maintenance: AZEK Brand Cellular PVC is a synthetic wood that will never crack, warp, or rot and is impervious to moisture, salt, and insects! That's perfect for Brackets used outside. For interior painted work, we recommend Poplar.
The photo above (click to enlarge) shows our Parrot's Beak Bracket in four standard thicknesses, as listed below. Standard frame size for each thickness is also pictured. Each Bracket is the same length and width, but the right two measure 1/2" longer and wider overall, due to their heavier frames.
"Bracket Thickness," "Cutwork Thickness," and "Scrollwork Thickness" in item listings all refer to the thickness of the Bracket itself and not the frame around the Bracket. Frames are typically wider than the thickness of the Bracket, as shown below:
Bracket Thickness Standard Frame Size
3/4" 3/4" x 1-1/2" moulded
1" 3/4" x 1-3/4" moulded
1-1/4" 1" x 1-3/4" rectangular
1-1/2" 1" x 1-3/4" rectangular
At each product listing, dimensions list horizontal measurement first, include frames (if any), and are correct for 3/4" and 1" thick Brackets. For 1-1/4" and 1-1/2" thick Brackets, please add 1/2" to both width and length.
Cedar Brackets with 3/4" thick scrollwork and PVC Brackets with 1-1/2" thick scrollwork are not available. Also, we do not recommend ordering Brackets longer than 26" in 3/4" thickness due to possible warping.
On special request, we’ll frame 1-1/4" or 1-1/2" thick Brackets with moulded frames. These are 3/4" thick by 2" or 2-1/4" wide, respectively. Please add $4.01 to the standard framed price for Poplar and Pine Brackets. Other wood types carry the same percentage upcharge for frame wood type as the Brackets themselves.
To be correct, the frames of Brackets used beneath Spandrels should be no wider than the Spandrel rail.
Turned parts (such as Spindles or Finials) are made of light-colored smooth hardwoods, regardless which Bracket material type is selected.
