Shakertown Machine Grooved (R&R)
Western Red Cedar Sidewall Shingles
These premium Shingles, made from kiln-dried Western Red Cedar, are for sidewall application only. Butt ends are sawed smooth at right angles to the side edges for a straight bottom line (rebutted) and each shingle is trimmed so side edges are parallel (rejointed). Thus, they are also known as R&R Sidewall Shingles.

One face is machine grooved (combed) to provide texture. The other face is smooth. Historically, cedar shingle siding has been used for Colonial, Shingle-style, Victorian, Rustic, Ranch, Bungalow, and Contemporary style homes.

R&R Machine Grooved Cedar Shingles Shingle Measurements
Each Shakertown Machine Groove R&R Shingle is a nominal 18" long (approximately 17-1/4" actual). Widths vary from 3" minimum to 14" maximum. These premium Redcedar Shingles are slightly less than 1/2" thick at the butt end. They may be stained, painted or left natural. See Staining and Finishing Cedar Shingles.

Coverage and Exposure
Each carton of Machine Grooved R&R Cedar Shingles covers 100 square feet at 14" exposure (double course application required) or 50 square feet at 7" exposure (single course application). See Table below.

If you don’t need a whole carton you may order our Cedar Sidewall Shingles by the foot in random widths. The quantity you order will be the total running feet we will ship. Because R & R Cedar Sidewall Shingles vary in width, we will send enough shingles, when laid edge to edge, to equal the linear footage ordered. Square foot coverage will depend on the installed exposure. Free Samples are also available.
