It is not necessary for Balusters to be as wide as Subrail, but Subrail must fit the Handrail channel width.
Benefits of using Subrail:
* Easy and professional Baluster installation. Just nail through top of Subrail into top of Baluster. Then screw through bottom of Subrail into bottom of Handrail and no hardware will show! Review our installation system for details.
* Handrailing will be more substantial, as the Subrail appears to be part of the Handrail!
* You can easily paint your Subrails a contrasting color (before installation, of course) to achieve a very pleasing 'pinstripe' effect on your Railing.
