A porch doesn't have to be physically large to make a BIG impression! Notice in particular the use of Newel Posts on either side of the steps. This treatment allows the balustrade to continue across the front.

Half Newels were also used at both walls. Half Porch Posts against the walls would have provided a 'landing' spot for the Brackets at the wall, but either way the effect is very nice!
