These PVC Columns and Pedestals have no tested structural properties They are designed to be installed around a previously installed structural post. The load bearing capacity of a Column/Pedestal is determined by the physical properties of the structural post (supplied by others) inside each Column/Pedestal. Your architect or engineer can specify load bearing requirements for the structural post. Structural post must be of treated lumber or steel Possible infiltration of water and possible condensation inside the PVC Column/Pedestal can cause degradation of untreated lumber. Bottom of structural post should be mounted to wooden deck or concrete/masonry porch floor using code-approved method and code approved post anchor. Top of structural post should be mounted to beam using code-approved method and code approved post-to-beam mounting bracket. |
