Rail Considerations for Sawn Balusters

Previous | Porch Guide Home | Next

Sub-rails
Any of our Handrails will work well with our Sawn Balusters if you use Sub-rails.

The fact that the Balusters will be narrower than the Sub-rail above them is not a problem as long as they are installed centered on the Sub-rail. Unless you want a wider or fancier Handrail, our P2 with either BSR2 or SR2 Sub-rail, will be very adequate.

Sloped-top Bottom Rails
For exterior use, the design of your bottom Railing is critical! Normal flat-topped Railing (Shoe) will NOT shed water properly. Worse, Rails with a channel (to receive Balusters) actually trap water! Also, interior Shoe styles appear very lightweight when used outside. Our Sloped-top Bottom Rail solves these problems!
