Porch Photo 45

Before - Porch Photo 45
BEFORE
What to do when you can't decide between back porch or two-story deck?

After - Porch Photo 45
AFTER
Do both! By incorporating a waterproof floor on the second story, this enterprising owner was able to extend the upper deck over an existing first floor bump-out on the right. That also allowed them to install a new sliding glass door to the upstairs master bedroom.

CLOSE-UP
The waterproof second floor projects beyond its railing, creating a 'porch eave' for the first floor. This area at the top of the Porch Posts could then be safely decorated with traditional Porch Brackets. By including a beam, Post Face Brackets, and Repeating Cornice Brackets, the first floor becomes more visually substantial.
