4" Ball Rule
To meet most building code regulations a 4" ball cannot pass through the widest opening between Balusters. Check for system suitability in your area. The maximum space between Balusters that will pass the 4" Ball Rule is listed with each Baluster. This should be verified before installation begins.
M Dimension
The 'M' Dimension is the measurement at the deepest part of the Baluster to the outer edge as shown at right. Example: Baluters with 'M Dimension of 1" can be used up to 2" apart and meet the 4" ball rule. The M dimension is listed with each Baluster.
Top & Bottom Pins
Balusters are reinforced with PVC, steel, aluminum or fiberglass pipe that extends 1" from ends of Balusters, creating top and bottom pins for installation.
Hole Size
The hole size required for pins is listed with each Baluster and is the same for both top and bottom pins.
Adhesive
PL Premium Adhesive should be used for all bedding and butt joints.
Alternative Textures
Several Polyurethane Baluster designs are available with Fossil Stone (FS) or Concrete Finish (CF) surface texture. Balusters available in these alternative textures have FS or CF at the end of the stock number.
