Porch Photo 93
This porch is a visual treat to all lucky enough to visit.

A lot is happening here... and it's all good!

Porch Posts on either side of the steps could have been positioned to receive the stair rails directly, but the use of not two, but four Newel Posts at the top of the steps provides added visual interest. Placing Newels in front of one another like this also allows the stair handrails to terminate at a perfect elevation at the top of the steps, while the steepness of the steps lends a story-book air to the proceedings.

Note also that stair Balusters are of a different design than those on the main porch. The gazebo to the right mixes both designs for added whimsy.

Conversely, the main porch 'borrows' Arch Brackets from the gazebo area to highlight the entry area.

This cottage porch is generously tall, but full length 36" Cupid's Key Post Face Brackets bring the Gingerbread into close proximity as one arrives at the top of the stairs.

An attached gazebo ensures entry this porch
from the other end will be equally dramatic!

Use of Repeating Cornice Brackets at the eaves of both sections of the porch is
important in providing The Third Dimension so often lacking on new porches.

A pair of Arch Brackets, joined with an upside down Header, creates a most fanciful transition as one moves from gazebo to main porch. We love the way these owners slightly modified the ends of a Meredith Header to skillfully join it to these Arch Brackets - a truly outstanding detail. Well done!

The owners wrote: "Vintage Woodworks made our 2 year remodeling project so easy and our porch with the gazebo extension came out so beautiful due to the vast designs available in your catalog. Everyone asks us where we found the beautiful trim...and we show them your catalog. [Our friends] are remodeling their beautiful porch now with your help!

Here are the Spring photos and everything looks so much more beautiful with flowers blooming. I stenciled the gazebo floor to bring attention to the quilt block design. We have been enjoying High Tea on the gazebo until the Fall cool weather arrived and will start up again next month.

Our last phase of remodeling is this summer with landscaping the front of the house with a cottage perennial garden design theme we admired in English and Irish gardens. After this project is finished in July, J. & I will continue to enjoy our retirement and thank God for all of our blessings.

One of our blessings was finding our Vintage Woodworks Texas Angels...and since you were my contact throughout the two year project, you are the Guardian Angel!

Thank "you all" for making our dream come true."
- Love, M. & J. Darensod
