This large home had the perfect place for a 'real' porch since there was plenty of blank wall below the second floor windows.

And it got one! Notice how new porch roof extends almost to the bottom of the second floor windows, providing a good pitch for the new roof and adequate headroom on the porch. Owner chose to further extend the headroom at entry to porch by substituting Brackets in place of Spandrel.
